Who We Are

The Paleo Club UU is a student‑driven community at Utrecht University dedicated to exploring the deep history of life on Earth. We bring together students from Earth Sciences, Biology, Evolutionary Biology, Paleobotany, and related fields — as well as anyone simply fascinated by fossils, ancient ecosystems, and the processes that shaped our planet.

Founded in 2024, the club has grown into a vibrant and interdisciplinary network of more than 80 active members. Our goal is to create an accessible, inclusive space where students can learn, collaborate, and share their enthusiasm for paleontology in all its forms: from microfossils to the largest fossil remains, from trilobites to mammoths, and from invertebrate to vertebrate paleontology.

We organize a wide range of activities, including lectures by researchers, hands‑on workshops, symposia, museum visits, and informal meet‑ups. Recent events have included paleoart sessions, behind‑the‑scenes tours of fossil collections, and various networking opportunities for students. Our members range from first‑year bachelor students to master’s students and teachers, creating a unique environment where curiosity and expertise meet.

The club is run by an enthusiastic board that coordinates events, maintains collaborations with museums and researchers, and ensures that the community remains welcoming and academically enriching. We work closely with the university, internal and external experts, and student organizations to offer high‑quality programming that reflects the diversity of paleontological science.
